我在威廉莱特学校访问时，看到了南澳洲州长的阅读挑战活动的宣传资料，我今天把它特别介绍给大家。我觉得对我们组织学生的阅读活动，开展阅读文化研究都有很大的启发和帮助。先看他们的阅读挑战规则。
Reading Challenge Rules 阅读挑战规则
1.The Premier’s Reading Challenge is open to all students from Reception to Year 9 in South Australian Government and non-Government schools as well as home schooling students.

2.To receive a certificate students are challenged to read 12 books from the start of the 2004 school year and before 10 September, 2004 . Teachers may set an earlier completion date in September so there is enough time for staff to process the Reading Records.

3.At least 8 of the 12 books must come from the appropriate Premier’s Reading Challenge Booklist. A maximum of 4 books can be books that are not on the Premier’s Reading Challenge Booklist. They must be of a similar standard to books on the list which can be checked by a teacher or teacher librarian.

4. Students can read books from the booklist for their year level and from booklist for year levels above their own. Parents/carers, teachers or teacher librarians should guide students in their choice of titles from booklists for older students.

5.Students will record the titles and authors of all the books which they read on the appropriate Student Reading Record . They are also required to include the book ID number from the Premier’s Reading Challenge Booklists.

6.Teachers, teacher librarian or parents must sign each entry on the Students Reading Record to indicate that a student has read, shared in the reading of , a book and to check the accuracy of the book title, author and ID number.

7.schools participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge are required to nominate a school contact person who will register participation in the Challenge for their school using the School Registration Form. Students and classes do not register separately. Schools register on-line . Alternatively schools can download a paper School Registration Form and send it to the Policy and Program Officer, The Premier’s Reading Challenge.

8.The school contact person is asked to promote the Challenge to teachers and students at their school and distribute Students Reading Records which can be downloaded from the website. By September 10, 2004 the school contact person is requested to collect, check for completion and send all Student Reading Records of students successfully meeting the challenge to the Program and Policy Officer, The Premier’s Reading Challenge. Included will be the School Reading Records Summary signed by the Principal. The Principal is acknowledging that entries have been checked and that names of students who have successfully met the Challenge have been printed legibly and accurately on the School Reading Record. Schools can submit their records in batches, each accompanied by a School Reading Record Summary . These can be submitted at any time in 2004 before 10 September. No entries can be accepted after 10 September, 2004 .

9.Four term is a time for celebration. Certificates for students who have successfully completed the Challenge signed by the Premier of South Australia will be sent to schools for distribution. It is suggested that this might be done at a special assembly involving your local Member of Parliament.
Schools with outstanding student participation rates will be invited to the Premier’s Reception in November and will be awarded certificates and books for their school libraries.

Dear Parent 亲爱的家长：
I’m writing to invite you and your child to take part in the inaugural year of the Premier’s Reading Challenge.

All school children in South Australia from Reception to Year 9 will be challenged to read 48 books during the next years.

I have introduced this Challenge to encourage our school children to discover the joy of reading and to help them build on literacy shills outside of the classroom.

Just as we reward sporting ability with medals, achievements in reading will also be recognised. Each student who completes the program will receive a signed certificate. After completing two successful years, students receive a bronze medallion, silver after three and a gold after four years.

Nearly 2000 books have been selected for booklist. Most of there books will be available from schools, public libraries and bookshops so every student can access the books needed for the Challenge.

I have asked five well known South Australians to be Ambassadors for the Challenge so that their profile will encourage more children to participate in the challenge.

I am delighted that Men Fox, Phil Cummings , Juliet Haslam , Mark Bickley and Kathryn-Harby Williams have all agreed to be Ambassadors for the challenge.
